We invite applications (U.S. Citizens only) for a full-time position (Computational Scientist) to work at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory (West Mifflin, PA) of Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation (BMPC) in support of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). Job responsibilities include: development of research plans to solve relevant engineering problems; application of scientific computing methods and development of software that leverage the NNPP's high performance computing systems; collaboration with BMPC scientists and engineers across multiple disciplines. All applicants must have: a PhD or a Masters degree (with working experience) in a computational science or engineering discipline, mathematics, computer science, or data science; a demonstrated ability and passion for leading and developing original research projects; domain knowledge of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations; experience writing code in a scientific computing language (C, C++, Fortran, Python, etc.). It is desirable that candidates possess skills in one or more of the following areas: experience with high performance computing; expertise in an aspect of numerical analysis; domain knowledge of a nuclear engineering discipline such as nuclear reactor physics / radiation transport, fluid dynamics (turbulence, two-phase flow), solid mechanics (including materials modeling), or multiphysics; experience contributing to and managing multiple developer software projects; familiarity with the software development process.
